The Audacity of HopeThe Audacity of Hope
By: Becky Paulson, SPU librarian
With the swearing in of the 44th U.S. President, it makes good sense to learn all we can about him. So besides listening to what others have to say about President Barack Obama, we also have the opportunity to learn about his values and ideals as he himself describes them. In his book, The Audacity of Hope, we read about his childhood in Indonesia chasing chickens with friends. We also learn about how he met his wife, Michelle, when she was his advisor at a law firm. Oh, and don’t forget about the White House breakfast when President Bush’s aide gave them both hand sanitizer! (You’ll have to read the book for THAT whole story.) More importantly, we glimpse how politics and policy in our country will soon be changing. This book does not present a step-by-step plan for change; rather it is a big picture roadmap of the direction we soon will be traveling. (So pack your suitcase!)
