Runner Up
The Hang-Out Room
Residence Hall: Emerson
Residents: Justin King (senior) and Cameron Lowell (sophomore)
Highlights: King Leonitus from the movie 300, Philbert the penguirn, and five game systems

Want to know what’s important to Justin King and Cameron Lowell? Just look at the space between their top bunk and the ceiling: mere inches. “We’ve figured sleep is secondary to life,” says King, who frequently stays up past 3 a.m.

The lofted beds allow for extra space to have movie and video game parties, serve espresso, and to set off (accidentally!) the Emerson fire alarm by jumping — oops. But there’s also plenty of room to study in the closet/offices, which are equipped with both hangers and desks. The arrangement allows for what the pair really finds important — having room to entertain.

“We just like space,” Cameron says. “I mean, that’s why we sleep up in the ceiling.”
