In 1994, Dr. Smyth started a nonprofit ministry called The Master’s Men. Dr. Smyth was invited to rejoin Seattle Pacific and returned to the faculty of the School of Theology in 2000 to teach in the area of educational ministry, a focus he continues today.

Dr. Smyth has been involved in many professional organizations relative to the work of Christian education and was the past president of the National Association of Professors of Christian Education for two years — an organization of which he remains a member. He continues to speak at Christian education conferences and workshops. He and his family attend Bethany Presbyterian Church in Seattle.
