Message to Parents from the Dean of Students.

Welcome to Seattle Pacific University.

The Student Life staff appreciates the opportunity to be a part of your student's learning. Your student joins a community committed to providing learning opportunities in and outside the classroom. Leadership and service activities abound. Making connections and becoming a member of a community are valuable aspects of the SPU education.

Parents and families have played important roles in the growth of your student. We appreciate your efforts in instilling the desire for learning. The university experience is one of change for both students and parents. We encourage you to talk with your student about their experiences in and outside the classroom. Change is expected. Students and parents have feelings of excitement and apprehension. If your student needs assistance, please support her or him and encourage contact with an SPU staff and/or faculty member.

Student Life staff and programs encourage students to engage the culture on and off campus as part of the process of becoming persons of competence and character. Students will be challenged and supported in a community where it is expected that grace is experienced. Our goal is to assist students in becoming people who will change the world to the glory and praise of God.

Best wishes to you and your student in the SPU educational adventure.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey C. Jordan
Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs Dean of Student Life
