HIPAA - The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) was signed into law on August 21, 1996 . This federal legislation protects the privacy of your medical records. Entities at SPU covered by HIPAA include the Health Center in Watson Hall, as well as several other offices that may have a need to deal with your records (such as the finance office for billing).
