In this lab, we are focused on two main research studies:

Beauty Study

The is a study exploring infant and adult preferences for original and altered abstract art. We hope to tease apart the contributions of “the eye of the beholder” and the visual elements of the art itself towards our perceptions of beauty.

FEAS Study

We are researching methods of screening infants and parents who may be at risk for emotional and relationship problems. By observing babies, we can glimpse human behavior in its earliest forms, helping us to attempt to answer some of life’s biggest mysteries.

• What are the contributions of nature and nurture on development?
• How do infants see the world?
• How are aesthetic preferences formed?
• How do infants form relationships, and how important are these early relationships?
• What does a risky or resilient trajectory of development look like?
• How can we work towards supporting infants and parents in this awesome and vulnerable time of life?
