Prospective Students: Program Sequence

Course Sequence

Clinical Psychology classroomTo graduate with a doctorate, each student must complete 199 credits which include:

  • 26 units of research and dissertation
  • Two one-year, part-time practicum placements
  • A full-time, one-year internship

A Master's degree (M.S., Psychological Science) is earned en route to the doctorate.

Cognate Courses

In addition to clinical psychology core courses, students choose cognate courses for more intensive study in a particular area of the discipline.  Cognates offered beginning 2011:

HEALTH:

  • Neuropsychological Assessment
  • Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine
  • Hypnosis, Biofeedback and Mindfulness Therapies

FAMILY:

  • Child Psychopathology and Intervention
  • Marital and Conjoint Interventions-Theory and Technique
  • Adolescent Psychopathology and Intervention

THEOLOGY:

  • Personhood: Foundations
  • Personhood: Psychological Disorder
  • Personhood: Psychotherapeutic Processes

In addition, students may choose to take an organizational cognate from the Industrial/Organizational (I/O) program. These cognate courses include:

  • Organizational Behavior
  • Leadership and Team Development
  • Organizational Development and Consultation
