The registration deadline is a week prior to the beginning of each class. Cancellation requests must be made in writing five business days prior to the class. Register early, space is limited.

Health Fitness Endorsement Courses
Take advantage of your summer by getting a head start on your Health Fitness Endorsement.  There are four classes this summer offered through SPU’s Physical Education department:
Foundations and Methods in Health Fitness
: 4 credits, $760, June 26-28, July 2-3, 8:00am-4:30pm, Dearborn Park Elementary and SPU Campus Upper Gym
Alternative Sports and Games: 2 credits, $380, July 18-20, 8:30am-3:00pm, Dearborn Park Elementary
Teaching Health and Wellness: 4 credits, $760, July 10-13, 16-17, 9:00am-3:00pm SPU Campus
Scientific Applications

Social Studies Course with Dr. Scheuerman & Dr. Ellis- EDCN 5858
SPU education professors, Richard Scheuerman and Art Ellis, will be offering a 3-credit class called Place Based Expansive Learning for Global Awareness. This year’s course has an exciting theme: David Thompson, Jaco Finley, and Fur Trade Voyageurs: Pacific Northwest Journeys of Discovery. The program will feature an interdisciplinary studies format relating social studies, language arts, and science to Northwest regional studies for use at both elementary and secondary levels. Part of the “Journeys of Discovery” travelogue series, this class will be held June 28-30, at Camp Casey Conference Center on Whidbey Island. For more information or to register, call 206/281-2274.

  Washington Academy of Languages/ESL Bilingual Endorsement

The Washington Academy of Language's partnership with Seattle Pacific University offers several ELL endorsement classes this summer—both online and on campus. Course titles include: Methods of Teaching ELL/Bilingual Ed, Methods of Teaching Spoken Language, Testing and Evaluation of the ELL Student, Introduction to Linguistics, English Structure, Methods of Teaching Reading and Writing to the ELL Student, ELL Materials Selection and Development, Teaching World Languages, and Issues Across Cultures.
