CEU 3228 Essentials of Music Technology I (2 units)
The focus of this course is to introduce the workings of the basic music technology "food groups" available to music educators and how to use these as a curriculum in the classroom by learning and developing lesson plans for them. The food groups will consist of: Notation software (Sibelius, Finale), Digital Audio/Sequencing (hardware recorders, mic techniques, Pro Tools), Music Theory/Ear Training (Alfred Essentials of Music Theory, Music Ac, Ear Master, Auralia, and others), Music Improvisation (Band in a Box). All course work conforms to the K-12 National Standards. Students will walk away with a working knowledge of the software/hardware and will have developed lesson plans for their specific classroom needs. Equivalent: EDMU 5586.

MUS 5068 Teaching Music Composition Using Technology (2 credits)
Designed to teach music teachers beginning concepts in music composition using music technology. The elements of music are discussed and learned after which the course departs on the study of units of structure in music (form). Harmonic content, chord progressions, cadences, and more advanced tips for good melodic writing are also covered.
