As of July 1, 2006, graduate and professional students have access to federal PLUS Loans which may be used to pay for their education. PLUS Loans are part of the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) which also offers Stafford Loans. Like Stafford Loans, PLUS Loans have a fixed interest rate. The Federal Grad PLUS Loan interest rate is 8.5%. Interest rate information is available at http://studentaid.ed.gov. To be eligible for a Grad PLUS Loan you must have filed a current FAFSA. You must meet minimum credit requirements to borrow this loan. You can complete the FAFSA on-line at: www.fafsa.ed.gov.
