How can CSOT members, as well as secondary and tertiary backups aid the BECs once your department’s status has been established? Will be able to begin first aid while accounting activities are taking place
What now?
- Who needs to know how to reach you or where you are located on campus? HC team have radios and runner assignments Security will know location of first aid station , key departmental staff(osl) have cell # and from disaster plan have primary, secondary and tertiary first aid locations
- How will you contact the ECMT, Security and the other CSOT members with your status? Runners if cell(has email also) or land line or email down
- How will they contact you if you cannot take calls on your cell phone? Radio or runner
- Do you have a plan to meet with your staff? According to your CSOT plan, do you have the resources you need (contact lists, laptops, rosters)? Lists in grab and go bags, each health professional has bag and radio
- Do you see any needs that need to be addressed for the students, staff and faculty? Will water and food become an issue? Is there a need for counselors? Sanitation (restrooms) will soon be important for large numbers of gathered people if buildings cannot be reentered even before food needs kick in. Any persons with injuries and the 20 more seriously injured may be accompanied by traumatized individuals during rescue operations and may need a counselor on hand to deal with the stress of situation. This would allow HC staff to continue treating injured.
- What actions do you need to take in the next hour? Next two hours? As soon as first aid station determined move HC and assisting SHS staff to first aid station, Begin caring for more serious injured try to stabilize until EMS can arrive. Check in with staff re supplies and needs to continue operation.
