Point of Contact: Gary Womelsduff
CSOT Department/Area: Human Resources
Since this scenario is same day, I am still home sick, Carrie is our person in charge, and Kathleen is also not working today.
What now?
- Who needs to know how to reach you or where you are located on campus? (I (Gary) will attempt to contact Carrie or other HR staff, but they know I am home sick, and Carrie is the person in charge. Until/unless contacted by ECMT for the CSOT to gather, Carrie would remain with the HR team and others gathered in the Alumni parking lot. )
- How will you contact the ECMT, Security and the other CSOT members with your status? (The BEC will use the radio from our red emergency bag to contact Security, and can be contacted by ECMT. Cell phones will be present, but may not work due to overloaded circuits. A runner can be used if necessary)
- How will they contact you if you cannot take calls on your cell phone? (radio or runner)
- Do you have a plan to meet with your staff? According to your CSOT plan, do you have the resources you need (contact lists, laptops, rosters)? (All HR staff have each others' phone numbers. We also plan to have a complete printed list of SPU employees and emergency contact information. We do not have any laptops in HR, but in a case like this we could use one!)
- Do you see any needs that need to be addressed for the students, staff and faculty? Will water and food become an issue? Is there a need for counselors? (the most immediate need is for medical attention and general calm, encouragement. Water will become an issue throughout the day if this lasts that long, as will bathrooms. We assume we are not to re-enter any building until it has been inspected by facilities. Food and counselors would not come until then next day or beyond. Depending upon the extent of damage, particularly injuries, HR will consult with ECMT about bringing in grief counselors via our Employee Assistance Program. )
- What actions do you need to take in the next hour? Next two hours? (Every effort will be to continue to tend to anyone with injuries, comfort those in shock, and help people try to contact family members. Carrie will remain with HR team, and is available if CSOT is called to gather at the Safety and Security office)
