FPM Msg 2 Response

Point of Contact: Dave Church

CSOT Department/Area: FPM

Communications:

FPM has cell phone coverage via the government GET’s cards, Sat phone is up and running with test calls to both Cheryl Michaels and Mark Reid, Facilities VHF radio and frequency’s are up and running and we have verified connectivity between our dept and security,  lap tops have outside wireless connectivity in the Ross Lot (weak but usable with intermittent disconnection). We also have a runner available (Mollie Morse) and designated if all communications fail.  We have tested SPU email and cell phone email and text messaging successfully.  We have not been able to view the Shaky Ground Web page reliably from the parking lot.

Field Station - Ross Lot:

Field station is now set up.  We will be compiling a list of successes and lessons learned on the  field station that will follow later.  Our plan predefines outdoor field station location with the primary being at Emerson Park.  FPM staff have been trained to assemble at the field station, as well in field station mobilization and demobilization.

Building Assessments:

Building assessments are underway by FPM staff for the initial exterior screening only so that the structural engineers assessment assignments can be prioritized following the their screening of Ashton, Emerson, Gwinn, Hill and Moyer. We have not been able to confirm -  but Pacific Engineering Technologies (structural engineering firm) by prior contractual arrangement and annual practice is expected to be responding without being called and we will report their arrival when it occurs.

Request of OUS:

I will be requesting housing and food service for 20 FPM staff and leadership due to needing to work through the next several days with limited breaks and down time in-order to support ECMT, CSOT, and as quickly as possible complete the evaluation of buildings and infrastructure so a campus status report can be known.  This request will be made directly to them – this is just an FYI for CSOT and ECMT leadership.

During The Next 8-12 hours:FPM will be conducting building assessments, coordinating with the structural engineers when they arrive, reporting on building and infrastructure status as it becomes known, providing assistance to Safety and Security for search and rescue cases if called upon, FPM management will be planning for days 2 and 3 while staff carry out day one responsibilities, FPM will also be working to access to the rest of our supplies and equipment at 2 W. Dravus.

Note:

Our field station is supported by two portable generators (we ran them today) that are forward based in our vehicles to keep all computers and communications gear charged.
