Murray and Dave --- the question emerging is where and when will water and supplies be distributed.
Dave, Murray points at the facilities will use a forklift to move water to sites with large numbers of people (Tiffany Loop will the largest area – this would be the starting point). By this point in the timeline --- would you be able to send staff to handle this activity? Or do we need volunteers to carry water to Tiffany Loop. Where else do you plan to deliver water?
There are no ready to eat foods available in the supplies stored behind Walls Advancement Center … without access to Gwinn and Sub, looks like no food is available for most of the day.
Bed linens, blankets and pillows ---- access to Ashton, Hill and or Emerson will be important for being able to provide housing this evening on campus.
Craig – what are your thoughts about seeking off-site housing at the Marriott or other facility? I see in ORL response that they would contact hotels in the area. Seems to me we need an understanding of how to proceed in this area --- who has the authority to make the decision to “go forth and find bed” and/or make pre-arrangements with them in advance. There is a price tag here --- so SPU needs to determine how we want to respond.

FPM, when requested by OUS or FS, will unlock and open the shipping container located in the alley behind the WAC. FPM can provide a flat bed truck with lift gate that OUS, or FS staff, or OSL organized volunteers can use to move the stored items to outdoor gathering locations for distribution. Regardless of forklift availability, this tasks can be accomplished fairly quickly and easily.
As far as FPM knows these are in the Hill Hall lower level which will be a priority to access.

All, The forklift is needed to move pallets at the shipping container. Since the Mailing staff cannot re-enter Marston to evaluate the state of the Mailing & Copying center, Frank Kinard will take the Mailing van to the container and use that vehicle to move water to appropriate campus locations for distribution. The van is parked between McKenna and the Bookstore and should have multiple paths to get to the container. I suggested earlier that we would check with OSS to determine where the largest groups were gathered and move water to those locations. For planning purposes, OUS and Sodexo needs work with OSS and develop a map of the assembly points and chose an appropriate number of sites for short-term water distribution and incorporate that into their Disaster Recovery plans. As the risk of repeating myself, the emergency food supply inventory needs to be reviewed to develop a solution for feeding people after an earthquake until Gwinn is declared habitable. The HMP disaster recovery plan includes the following:
- Loss of residential facility. If a residential building is deemed uninhabitable, housing and meal plan staff will work with Residence Life to coordinate alternate shelter for residential students. Depending on scope and duration of emergency situation, implement one of the following:
- If need is small-scale and short-term, identify vacancies and relocate students temporarily. Contact Marriott Courtyard if campus options are unavailable or unsuitable. If need is small-scale and long-term, identify vacancies and relocate students permanently.
- If need is large-scale and short-term, temporarily assign affected students as “guests” to other rooms and apartments, or if necessary, use Upper Gwinn (250 estimated maximum sleeping) or Royal Brougham (1000 estimated maximum sleeping) as temporary shelter. Conference Services bedding can be used if needed (in residence hall storage).
If need is large-scale and long-term (in a catastrophic event), other departments would likely be affected. If decision was made to close the University, students would be sent home
The details of this need to be discussed with Elonna upon her return to ensure that the necessary effort is focused and productive if it is determined that alternative or additional lodging is required. Note, there are some on campus solutions contemplated.

If the mailing staff and van or FPM have access difficulty FPM has a tractor (front loader) and chain saws that will be used to gain access to the supplies in support of the OUS effort.
