Thanks Jeff,
One of the questions I’ve seen emerging in several responses to message 2 and 3 is that the People Response team would be getting together at this point (about 2 hours after the initial earthquake) to work through issues related to emerging situations – counseling services, pastoral care, and of course health care issues. Will this group be connected to one another at this time – what would the focus be (for students and employees), who will be part of the group and how do you contact one another?

The people response group is Steve Maybell, Gary Womelsduff, Matthew Koenig (Deb Nondorf) and myself. If I’m with ECMT, I would expect Steve to take the lead with Gary on this. Steve would have more of a focus on the student side and Gary would have the employee focus. I expect they would work together to determine how best to implement counseling, pastoral care, etc. Additionally, Steve would be in contact with Jean about the physical health care issues. Which would mean that location of first aid would be an important aspect of decision-making. If indeed there is a hierarchy/priority of which buildings are checked for occupancy, we need to make sure that services are considered so that needs can be met.

Thanks Jeff --- Currently the hierarchy for checking out buildings by structural engineers is --- Ashton, Emerson, Gwinn, Hill, Moyer. Jean has shared her location for medical supplies, so access points in this situation are Safety and Security, and then Gwinn once it is approved for occupancy. Since at this point no building has been approved for occupancy, Jean’s plan states the first aid station will be established at her department’s evacuation site (Tiffany Loop). In good weather this makes sense --- in bad weather – another challenge emerges.
See Jean’s response to the messages as she details more fully on steps she’ll be taking.
