Thanks Jean --- by 10 AM and through the Noon hour – you should expect you won’t have access to any buildings.  So your plan to have an outdoor first aid station until Gwinn is accessible is reasonable.

Can you ID for me which buildings contain your supplies?

Watson hall and by disaster plan the following. This is also included in the grab and go bags information file.

Medical supplies sufficient to treat 300 patients will be located at the First Aid Station. More limited first aidsupplies are available at the following locations:

  1. Office of Safety and Security
  2. Residence Halls
  3. Royal Brougham Pavilion (trainers area)
  4. Motor Pool Garage (25 West Nickerson Street)
  5. Facility Operations Center (2 West Dravus Street)
  6. Beegle Hall (scene shop area)

The locations of the first aid stations and supply areas are shown on a map in Appendix B. Couriers may be asked to assist with the transfer of first aid supplies from the supply areas to the First Aid Station or to disastersites where immediate first aid is required.

The emergency response truck is also equipped with first aid supplies. Each University vehicle is equipped with a small first aid kit.

Thanks Jean, Based on the University’s current plan for prioritizing buildings, it looks like the supplies in Safety and Security would be immediately accessible, however, plans in the residence halls (Ashton, Emerson, Hill, Moyer) may become available later in the day, if the structural engineers find them sound.

Another question emerged ---- one of the departments wondered if in a real emergency whether campus defibrulators should be taken outside if time permits in a building evacuation (as well as departmental first aid kits).  What is your advice?  Will you have access to this type of device?  I understand they are in the SPU patrol cars.

We have thought about it as we have one and can go either way if we have enough bodies to carry everything. The problem for us is we don’t have enough hands to carry everything out. We have even discuss taking out oxygen tanks with us but again how much can we realistically carry without one of us becoming the injured. If the staff in locations with AED’s have extra hands than do take them.
