My follow up question is about providing pastoral care --- how will students, faculty and staff know this type of care is available and how to access this assistance? If I advise OSS/CSOT, can they spread the word through the BECs?
Jeff Jordan, Steve Maybell and Gary Womelsduff are all aware that this is an expectation for our office. I anticipate that they would be advising people in their areas of our availability.
What is in your plan for communicating this type of assistance … in a major event, we expect need in this area. At this point in the day (10AM) all the buildings are still closed for inspection --- so take this into consideration. I can do an all-campus email advising people that we are available and can be found in Tiffany Loop.We can also text our ministry coordinators who can spread the word through the student population.
Also, if all the buildings on campus are damaged and need to be reviewed by the structural engineers be occupancy can occur, the following buildings will be inspected first --- current priority is 1) Ashton, 2) Emerson 3) Gwinn, 4) Hill, 5) Moyer. So with this in mind …. and knowing that by 10:00 AM the structural engineers have not yet arrived (and we’re not sure when they will .. . this comes out later in the exercise)… what’s the plan? We also see at 10:03 AM there is an explosion on campus --- so nerves will be on edge. The plan is to meet with people in Tiffany Loop unless they are unable to get to us. We would make decisions based on known factors if needing to get to other Emergency gathering locations.
We are abundantly aware that there is real need for intercession, interaction, and prayer with the campus population; and would be working hard to address and meet those needs.
We would also be in contact with FFMC pastoral staff re their availability to assist.
