CSOT Leadership Message 2 Response

Point of Contact: Janet Ward

CSOT Department/Area: CSOT Leadership / Primary Facilitator

What Now questions:

  •  Who needs to know how to reach you or where you are located on campus? On my staff Jerry Finch and Tim Gatlin.  ECMT.
  • How will you contact the ECMT, Security and the other CSOT members with your status?   I will be in ECMT.  IDM staff to remain on campus until decision is made about whether or not to close.
    • How will they contact you if you cannot take calls on your cell phone?  My staff may send a runner to ECMT (Safety and Security) or try to text me.
    • Do you have a plan to meet with your staff? According to your CSOT plan, do you have the resources you need (contact lists, laptops, rosters)?  Small staff --- all have cell phones save one.  All understand they need to check in with BEC and then locate our team.
    • Do you see any needs that need to be addressed for the students, staff and faculty? Will water and food become an issue? Is there a need for counselors?  Within the first 30 minutes of the event – no.  But as the clock moves closer to Noon (lunch), we’ll see crowd wanting food and water.  If the weather was rainy/cold --- the first need would be shelter.  As stated earlier, I have a couple of bottles of water in my car.
    • What actions do you need to take in the next hour? Next two hours?  ECMT – assess condition of buildings and keep good communication between ECMT and BEC’s/reader boards/web site/SPU Alert.  Everyone will want to know the extent of the damage and what to do next --- where they can go for shelter/food/water.
