Kim – as always Res Life has a thorough response to the questions.  As I read through the responses, I had a couple of follow-up questions for you about the initial response to the earthquake.

  • Within the first hour –
    • report unaccounted students to CSOT via Res Life representative.  At this time, CSOT has not yet met and is not the appropriate group to respond.  In a real situation missing persons should be reported to the BEC who will get this information to Safety & Security or you could send a runner to S&S with this information.
    • Report emerging student needs (other than medical) to CSOT and People Response team.  As in the earlier point, CSOT has not been called into action nor the People Response team.  So what do you believe should happen at this point when these needs emerge among our residential students.  What do you think might be the most likely issues to surface among residential students --- which may need to be addressed by the ORL plan, in conjunction with Student Life or People Response?
  • Create a list of what you will with you as you leave your building.  I see what items your staff have been instructed to take with them (e.g. BEC bag) as they leave the building.  When we get to the table top exercise on Wed, you will only be able to use the items you bring with you out of the building (or have access to in your car or home).  With that in mind, what items are you taking with you ?  Please provide a list of what you will take with you.
  • Your home --- what transpires when all SPU buildings have been ordered to be evacuated?  What does this mean for you and your family?  How does this relate your actions during an event at 8:40 AM --- and all SPU buildings are to be evacuated?
