Thanks Jeff –

I want to provide you some additional follow-up that emerged in the written OUS emergency plan which you may wish to consider. Conference Services should be meeting to discuss bedding issues. OUS has stated in earlier message about checking on supplies --- water – in our storage containers.   But how to get the supplies out of storage containers and distributed?  What number of volunteers (staff or students) would be needed?  Who would coordinate the volunteers?  Who would direct them?  This may be an area of partnership with OSL and OUS.

  • What can be done about water distribution? – When and by whom.Health Services will probably need water more than anyone at this point. How will they communicate their needs to Murray?
  • Where is the man power to move the water? Who would be best utilized to begin organizing student volunteers (we may not know how to use them yet, but I anticipate they will be a valuable asset).

Getting a list of student volunteers to assist with moving/distributing supplies may be an essential element –however, not yet written into anyone’s plan. Another area where we would likely need student volunteers would be re-stacking the shelves in the library or helping to place residence halls, classrooms or offices back in order (of course, once the buildings are approved for occupancy).  If OSL had a method to sign up and marshal volunteers – that would help.

I also understand that FEMA will reimburse the university for some types of volunteer services after this type of event, however, we have some paperwork that is required.  You may want to touch bases with Craig --- and amend the OSL and Finance plans to include this information.

I like the idea using the Tiffany Arch as a point where people can go for information, let us know where they are going (e.g. check out if leaving campus/contact, etc.).  If this is reasonable decision --- then we may want all CSOT and ECMT plans to include this element for a point of contact for students, employees and our  neighbors.  What would you need at the Tiffany Loop aside from staff/students to man this field station? manageable.

Note:   I would assume for staff and faculty, they need to keep their supervisors informed where they go if they leave campus.
