Thought Leadership

The Center is positioned to influence both the theory and practice of business. Guided by sound research and theological reflection, we create tools and resources to empower business people to do the right thing — and to see their work in the world as meaningful, making a difference, and expanding possibilities for others.

Visiting Scholars

SPU has established the Bruce R. Kennedy Endowment for Ethical Business Leadership, in honor of the former CEO of Alaska Air and a former Executive Advisory Board member for SPU's School of Business and Economics. The Bruce R. Kennedy Endowment for Ethical Business Leadership will enable a visiting scholar each year to spend time interacting with faculty, students and the surrounding business community on a faith-based understanding of the purpose and practice of business. Community of Scholars and Business Leaders

CIB works to connect both the practitioner and scholar communities around important values, ideas, practices, and research commitments.

The objectives of the Community of Scholars and Practitioners is to build a robust body of knowledge articulating a faith-based understanding of the purpose and practice of business.

  • We’ll accomplish this by regularly gathering business scholars, practitioners, and theologians interested both in this goal and in supporting research in this vein.
  • This work will inform the content disseminated via CIB’s channels, venues, and constituencies.

Seattle Pacific’s Center for Integrity in Business provides one of the most advanced forums in the world for applying the Christian faith to the challenges of the business world.

When I presented my research on theological business ethics there, I found a level of engagement and sophistication unexcelled anywhere. I was really challenged to dig deeper in my work, both in academic rigor and practical application.

The blend of professors, business people, and church leaders makes for an outstanding workshop."

–William Messenger, Executive Editor, Theology of Work Project Inc., and Adjunct Professor of Business Ethics, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
