Kim Sawers, Associate Professor of Accounting, was nominated for SPU's "Teacher of the Year" award. Dr. Sawers has taught Cost Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and Intermediate Accounting II, and believes the accounting profession has a greater purpose, "a social good." One of her goals in teaching students is "to pass on a model of decision-making that fully integrates ethical considerations" while exploring "concepts of justice, fairness, and faith."

Students appreciate how Dr. Sawers weaves application problems into her teaching, and her thoughtful, interactive teaching methods caught the attention of the award selection committee. Congratulations, Kim!
