General information about transcripts
An official transcript is a complete record of the courses and grades earned by a student at the University. In Autumn Quarter 1992, Seattle Pacific University converted its paper transcripts to an electronic transcript. When transcripts are requested, Seattle Pacific will produce a complete copy of the academic record. The Undergraduate, Graduate, Doctoral, Below College Level, and Continuing Education Unit transcripts will constitute the official transcript.
SPU offers two types of transcripts: unofficial transcripts and official transcripts. Unofficial transcripts display all of a student’s academic history exactly as it would appear on an official transcript. The only difference between an unofficial transcript and an official transcript is that an unofficial transcript is free, lacks the seal of the University and may not be accepted by all venues, whereas an official transcript displays the seal of the University and is subject to ordering fees.
Official transcripts can be issued either in printed form on security paper with the seal of the University or in electronic form, both provided by the National Student Clearinghouse using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.
Students are responsible to ensure that all the desired grades and degrees are reflected on the transcript before the order is placed. Please check your unofficial transcript.
Accreditation
Since 1936, the University has been fully accredited by NWCCU (Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities). It is on the approved list of the Board of Regents of the State of New York, and its credits are recognized by members of the various regional associations and by leading graduate schools throughout the country. The University is a member of the Association of American Colleges and Universities and of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. SPU is also a charter member of the Christian College Consortium and a collaborative partner of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities

In the State of Washington Seattle Pacific University is an Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction approved clock hour provider.
Grading System
At SPU our degree requirements are 180 quarter hours for B.A., B.S., with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Credit requirements for master's and doctoral degrees vary.
Course Numbering System
Courses completed prior to 1978 were numbered 100-600. These courses are listed on the appropriate pages of the transcript with more recent courses. Please refer to the University Catalogs for additional information.
- 0001-0199 below college level and don't apply to a degree
- 1000-2999 primarily for freshman and sophomores
- 3000-3999 primarily for juniors
- 4000-4999 primarily for seniors
- 5000-5999 graduate level courses that may be used to meet core/elective requirements
- 6000-6999 master's level
- 7000-7999 doctoral courses
Repeat Courses
Repeated courses are indicated in the R column of the transcript with an "I" for "included" in the GPA and credit count, and an "E" for "excluded" from the GPA and credits.
