SAS Faculty Resources: Roles and Responsibilities

UPEC/GPEC

All new graduate or undergraduate programs must be reviewed and approved by the Policy Evaluation Committee (UPEC or GPEC).

  • The department or school responsible for developing a new program must submit a proposal to the appropriate committee.
  • The proposal should address all aspects of the new program, including mission and nature of the program, description of the degree, market analysis, budget projections, and course descriptions.

It is best to meet with the university registrar prior to submitting anything to the committee so she can help add valuable information and expertise to the proposal.

Proposal Samples

If you would like to view excellent examples of new program proposals, please contact the appropriate school to view the following proposal(s):

  • Master's and Doctoral programs in Organizational Psychology by the School of Psychology, Family, and Community,
  • Master of Divinity by the School of Theology,
  • Master of Arts in Theology by the School of Theology

UPEC and GPEC focus on Catalog related items during Autumn Quarter. All proposed Catalog changes, submitted after early December, must wait until the following Catalog Cycle (Autumn Quarter of the upcoming year) to request changes to courses and curriculum.

ALL proposed Catalog changes must be submitted to the catalog coordinator in Student Academic Services prior to being brought before UPEC or GPEC.
