It is vital for a department to determine in which quarter a new graduate cohort begins. Some cohorts begin in Summer Session, others in Autumn Quarter. 

If a new student is admitted to begin a cohort in Autumn Quarter, but decides it would be better to start during the summer, The Graduate Center must be notified of this change. They must change the student's quarter of admission.
