What are my holds and how do I resolve them?

SPU policy requires that students be in good standing with the university to be allowed to register for each future quarter. Students are notified three weeks in advance of their registration appointment time to allow them the opportunity to resolve their holds in a timely manner.

To view holds, go to the “Registration and Schedules Menu” under the “Student Menu” of the Banner Information System . Click on “View Registration Holds” and any holds on your account will be listed, along with the department initiating the hold. Common holds would be financially related holds placed by Student Financial Services , Health History Requirements due to the health center, English and Math Proficiency Requirements, Christian Faith Exploration (CFE) Requirements, and Faculty Advisor holds. Each hold must be resolved before a student is allowed to register. After a student registers, any additional holds will prevent online registration activity, and changes would need to be made in person or in writing to Student Academic Services.

What is a registration hold, and how do I get it removed?
Registration holds are used to alert you to unfinished business that must be resolved before registration for another quarter is allowed. Examples of “unfinished business” that would initiate a registration hold include: a past due balance on your student account; failure to complete math proficiency or English placement test requirements; incomplete or missing CFE reports; and health center holds, among others. You will not be allowed to register until all registration holds have been resolved.
