2014-2015 Housing Sign-Up

Who can sign up for the residence halls? All continuing students, regardless of class status, are eligible.

HOW TO SIGN UP FOR THE NEW RESIDENCE HALL

To help creat community in the new hall, continuing students will be able to move in groups of four and five and reserve an entire suite. You must fill each space in the suite you are reserving.

For women, 12 four-person suites and 1 five-person suite will be available (on floors 2, 4, 5).

For men, 4 four-person suites and 1 five-person suite will be available (on floor 3).

When and where do I sign up? Group applications will be available April 24. Applications submitted by 4:30 pm that day will be ordered by total seniority points (see Seniority Points). If a tie occurs, applications will be prioritized by date and time received. Qualifying groups will receive notifications on April 25.

Selection order. Groups will choose a specific suite in Upper Gwinn on April 26 (see Sign-up Schedule). Groups with student leaders (RHMCs or Executive Hall Council members) will be able to choose first. Remaining groups will choose in point order.

HOW TO SIGN UP FOR ASHTON, EMERSON, HILL, AND MOYER

When and where do I sign up? Singles, quads, and triples are reserved on May 13. Doubles are reserved on May 20. Sign-up events are held in Upper Gwinn. The time you arrive depends on the type of room you wish to reserve and the category in which you fall (see Sign-up Schedule). You must fill each space in the room you are reserving. (Room changes to gain priority for a hall or floor are not permitted.) If you arrive after the time noted for your category, you will be included in the next category.

Selection order. Within each category, roommate groups will choose in order of total seniority points (see Seniority Points). If a tie occurs, a drawing will decide who chooses next. Once you reserve a room, you may not sign up for another room.

SIGNING YOUR CONTRACT

If signing up for the New Residence Hall, you will complete a Room and Meal Plan Contract when you submit your application. If signing up for the other halls, you will complete a contract on the night you sign up. By signing the contract you agree to abide by the policies outlined in the Student Handbook. Read both documents thoroughly to understand the terms of your residency. If you cancel your contract after reserving a room, you will forfeit your $300 housing deposit (which you paid when you first applied for housing).

RESERVING ROOMS FOR NEW STUDENTS

At least half of the spaces on each residence hall floor and select triple rooms will be reserved for new students. Any single, quad, or triple room not reserved by continuing students on May 13 will be reserved for new students; the remaining number of spaces needed will be reserved in double rooms. The location of these rooms will be posted at spu.edu/housingoptions on May 16. Click on the hall, then "Floor Plans."
