Count
the Benefits
If you've earned a technical or professional
degree from a regionally accredited U.S. technical or community college,
you can make that degree count toward a B.A. or B.S. in SPU’s
Professional Studies Program. Degrees that transfer directly towards
the Professional Studies Program are as follows:
- The Associate in Applied Science Transfer (AAST) degree from
a Washington State Community College
- Any Professional
or Technical Degree from a regionally
accredited U.S.
Technical or Community College, provided the student has earned at
least 20 college level liberal arts credits from distribution lists
within the areas of:
- English Composition
- Arts and Humanities
- Social Sciences
- Natural Sciences
- Mathematics
You can earn your bachelor's
degree with a major in Professional Studies at SPU by completing a) general
education courses in liberal arts and foundation classes, and b) an academic
minor or elementary teacher certification. This program is particularly beneficial to adults holding a technical
or professional degree for these reasons:
-
No Starting Over. Credits from your technical or professional
degree* will be accepted into the program. You won’t need to start
over or retake classes you’ve already completed.
-
Convenient Location. SPU’s residential neighborhood
campus on the north slope of Queen Anne Hill offers quick access
from downtown, Highway 99 or I-5. Lighted parking lots are a short
walk to comfortable classroom buildings.
-
Value in Price, Value in Degree. SPU courses are competitively
priced. You’ll receive a degree that’s backed by a fully accredited,
110-year-old institution whose reputation for scholarship and service
is recognized in schools, businesses and other organizations throughout
the Northwest.
-
Ethical Perspective. As a Christian university, SPU
places a premium on moral and ethical values that are based on biblical
foundations. Students find this a welcome perspective that offers
helpful guidance when they’re wrestling with ethical issues that
regularly confront them in the workplace.
-
Personal Academic Advising. Each student in the program
will receive personal, individualized attention from an SPU academic
counselor to help with transition into the program.
