Summary

Brazil
June/July 2009 (4 Weeks)

Location: Recife – the poorest major city in Brazil, with 60% of its population living below poverty line.
Host: Mennonite Central Committee
Purpose: Understand issues of urban and rural poverty, and how Christians should respond.
Program may include: Home-stays, service projects, and potential curriculum components in cultural anthropology or community development.
Faculty Sponsor: Kevin Neuhouser
Estimated cost: $3,500.* Support the Brazil team

 

Cameroon
June/July 2009 (4 Weeks)

Location: Belo, Cameroon
Host: Berudep
Purpose: Engage in and learn from sustainable business models.
Program may include: Home-stays, small business projects, and experience with the Cameroonian Church.
Faculty Sponsor: Baine Craft.
Estimated cost: $5,000.* Support the Cameroon team

 

Canada
July/August 2009 (4-6 Weeks)

Location: Hotsprings Cove, Nitinat and Optitsat – Vancouver Island
Host: Esperanza
Purpose: Understand issues that the youths of Nuu-Chah-Nulth people face in their adolescence, and support the ongoing ministry to them through mentoring friendships.
Program may include: Home-stays, education and/or sports projects, mentor teens, and outdoor activities.
Faculty Sponsor: Bob Weathers.
Estimated cost: $1,000.* Support the Canada team

 

China
June/July 2009 (4-6 Weeks)

Location: Beijing
Host: Compassion for Migrant Children
Purpose: Help students understand the impact of urbanization, and the challenges of rural-urban migration.
Program may include: Summer camps for migrant children, explore the historical and cultural context of China, and potential credit for education majors.
Faculty Sponsor: Debby Espinor, Dan Bishop
Estimated cost: $3,500.* Support China team

 

Dominican Republic
June/July 2009 (4 Weeks)

Location: Santo Domingo
Host: Foundations for Peace/Students International
Purpose: Help students understand the role of the Pentecostal Church in community development.
Program may include: Visits to DR Pentecostal Churches, home-stays, service projects, and potential credit opportunity.
Faculty Sponsor: Matthew Keonig
Estimated cost: $3,500.* Support the Dominican Republic team

 

Guatemala
August/September 2009 (4-6 Weeks)

Location: Guatemala City
Host: America Latina
Purpose: Help students understand Christian community development.
Program may include: Home stays, education projects, and community health projects.
Faculty Sponsor: Debby Espinor, Cindy Fitch
Estimated cost: $3,500.* Support the Guatemala team

 

Egypt
August/September 2009 (4 Weeks)

Location: Cairo, Alexandria,
Host: Impact Middle-east, Free Methodist Church
Purpose: Help students understand the different streams of religious faiths in the history and lives of Egyptians, as well as urban poverty.
Program may include: Study facets of Egyptian life, dialogue with different religious faiths, explore issues of urban poverty, and church and community services.
Estimated cost: $4,500.* Support the Egypt team

India
June/July 2009 (4-6 Weeks)

Location: Hyderabad
Host: Dalit Freedom Network
Purpose: Help students understand the challenges of a marginalized people, and the need for reconciliation and community development.
Program may include: Teach in Dalit Schools, engage in Indian culture and explore issues the Dalits face.
Estimated cost: $4,500.* Support the India team

 

Indonesia
June/July 2009 (4 Weeks)
Location: Riau Islands
Host: Island Connections
Purpose: Help students understand Muslims, and build bridges for sustained outreach.
Program may include: Ethno-cultural tours, home stays,
and relationship building through sports, activities and community projects.

Estimated cost: $4,000.* Support the Indonesia team

 

Ukraine
June/July 2009 (4-6 Weeks)
Location: Kiev, Bogodukhov.
Host: Little Lambs
Purpose: Help students understand issues arising from abandonment.
Program may include: Summer camps at orphanage and explore Ukrainian culture

Estimated cost: $3,500.* Support the Ukraine team

 

Vietnam
June/July 2009 (4-6 Weeks)
Location: Danang
Host: Duy Tanh University, Bread of Life, Fisher Center for Education
Purpose: Help students understand Vietnamese culture, build relational networks, and engage in business as missions models.
Program may include: Forums, discussions and conversations, explore Vietnamese history, culture and current developments, interact with college students,
serve in missional projects.

Estimated cost: $3,500.* Support the Vietnam team

  • Cost/estimates will change, depending on the actual expenses associated with each trip.

  • SPRINT charges students for only their actual trip expenses, which means the final cost is unknown until the team returns and all expenses have been totaled.

  • Trip-cost estimates include airfare, food, housing, ministry expenses, and other SPRINT expenses such as support-letter mailing and training materials.

  • Passports, personal items, and spending money are not included.

  • Tuition is not included in estimated costs
