For Students and Faculty
New Students Engage the Culture
One of the highlights of Welcome Week, CityQuest allows incoming SPU students to engage the culture through community service.
CityQuest’s purpose is to introduce new students to SPU’s commitment to “engaging the culture” through service-learning. Working alongside their classmates, new students will spend the day in service to a Seattle-area non-profit organization, learning about the organization’s role in our
community and ways students can continue their involvement throughout the school year.
Check out "One Step At A Time," the latest video from CityQuest rally performer Celestine Ezinkwo! Celestine performed live in Martin Square before CityQuest.

Time for a Rally!
CityQuest begins with a group rally in Martin Square at 9 a.m. You’ll hear a guest speaker, enjoy musical entertainment and join in prayer to start the morning. Next, board the bus and head for your assigned site. You’ll be on site from about 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Lunches, CityQuest T-shirts, and gloves are provided!
USEM Faculty Engagement through CityQuest
SPU Faculty are invited to participate in CityQuest with their University Seminar students. Our hope is that you will participate in the CityQuest day of service, helping an organization whose mission compliments your course content. We encourage you to return to your CityQuest site for an additional day of service in Fall Quarter.
To recommend a service site for your USEM's CityQuest project or to sign up to participate with your class, e-mail Owen Sallee (owen@spu.edu).
“It made me want to do more community service, because I saw that it helped people … and when a train like this starts, it can't be stopped.” — SPU freshman, returning from CityQuest
For Community Organizations
CityQuest is a great way to introduce your organization to energetic SPU students — through a day of service. Community-serving organizations within a 15 miles of Seattle Pacific University are invited to submit project requests. Student work groups are dispatched in groups of 20.
Sign up your organization, and invite SPU students to serve at your organization for a day.
Your agency’s mission and activities must be in agreement with SPU’s Volunteer Service Guidelines.
