For Students and Faculty

City Quest - SPUCityQuest allows incoming SPU students to engage the culture through community service.

The Saturday before Autumn Quarter begins, freshmen work alongside community-serving organizations in a day of service — while developing relationships with peers and community leaders.

A Day of Service and Fun

CityQuest is one of the highlights of Orientation/Welcome Week. It gives students a unique opportunity to develop relationships while serving.

As an incoming freshman, you’ll reach out through service projects that benefit social service agencies, churches, and individuals around Seattle. Through CityQuest, SPU hopes to connect you with Seattle-area service organizations, leading to your ongoing volunteer service.

Time for a Rally!

CityQuest begins with a group rally in Martin Square at 9 a.m. You’ll hear a guest speaker and join in prayer to start the morning. Next, join your group, and head for your assigned site. You’ll be on site from about 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Lunches, CityQuest T-shirts, and gloves are provided!

Participate in service as a USEM

USEM Faculty are invited to participate in CityQuest with their USEM students. Our hope is that you will participate in the CityQuest day of service, helping an organization whose mission compliments your course content. Then sometime during the Fall Quarter you will return to the site for an additional day of service.

For your time we will provide a $100 bookstore gift card in thanks for making service a component of students education.

“It made me want to do more community service, because I saw that it helped people … and when a train like this starts, it can't be stopped.” — SPU freshman, returning from CityQuest

For Community Organizations

City Quest - Seattle Pacific UniversityCityQuest is a great way to introduce your organization to energetic SPU students — through a day of service. Community-serving organizations within a 15 miles of Seattle Pacific University are invited to submit project requests. Student work groups are dispatched in groups of 20.

Sign up your organization, and let SPU students come serve at your organization for a day.

Your agency’s mission and activities must be in agreement with Seattle Pacific University’s Volunteer Service and Resource Promotion Guidelines.
