What in the World Is Involve-O-Rama?

Involve-o-ramaGlad you asked. Each year SPU's Student Union Board hosts Involve-O-Rama, an evening event where students discover a multitude of opportunities for participation in campus life.


Involve-O-Rama 2009 takes place on Sunday, September 27, 5:30–7:30 p.m., in Martin Square and SPU's Streetscape.


This year more than 70 booths will span the event, with organizations that represent all areas of our university including

What Will Students Find at Involve-O-Rama?

Diverse options! Students will discover plenty of ways to plug in at SPU, including:

  • Join a multicultural club such as SALSA, to learn about Hispanic and Latino culture
  • Volunteer to be a new writer for The Falcon, SPU's student newspaper
  • Participate in an intramural basketball team
  • Sign up to help with the Student Union Board, a student-led event-planning body

So How Involved Should College Students Be?

Noted higher education researcher Alexander Astin posits that students who are involved in both academic and social aspects of campus often succeed more in their studies and in their relationships with peers and faculty. Plus, they often feel more connected to their university.


Other studies corroborate his view that involvement leads to a healthier and happier college experience.


So give Involve-O-Rama a chance. With so many choices — and such great benefits from involvement — we're pretty sure you'll find ways to get connected, meet new people, and gain a better college experience!
