Social Venture Plan Competition Winners of the Social Venture Plan Competition


A social venture idea called "The Protosong Project" was the $2,500 grand prize winner in the Donald B. Summers Memorial Social Venture Plan Competition (SVPC) at SPU on April 18. More than 80 judges representing the business, non-profit, academic, and professional community had 21 competing teams to choose from. HomeSlice came in second, winning the $1,500 Pioneer Award. Additionally, nearly 500 students, faculty, staff, and guests got to vote for their favorite project of the afternoon. The people's choice award of $500 was given to Grounded. 2012 Dad's Day Dad's Day Was a Success!


Fathers, sons, and daughters got a "kick" out of the May 5th Dad's Day at SPU. More than 375 attended the sold-out event, which included a pancake breakfast and the Seattle Sounders vs. Philadelphia Union match at CenturyLink Field. Thanks for participating, and thank you to the SPU Parent Council, and Office of Alumni and Parent Relations for hosting!

SPU Memorial Day Observance SPU Memorial Day Observance


A special Memorial Day Observance, including a flag retirement and remembrance ceremony, will take place at the flag pole in Tiffany Loop on Tuesday, May 29, at 1 p.m. SPU students and alumni killed in action since World War II will be remembered, including Nic Madrazo, who was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan in 2008. All are welcome to attend. Please contact Margaret Brown in the Department of Psychology at mbrown@spu.edu if you have questions. This event is sponsored by the Veteran and Military Support Cadre.



Student Moving-Out Time It's Almost Moving-Out Time!


Residence halls close for summer break on Friday, June 8, at 4 p.m., while graduating seniors have until Sunday, June 10, to vacate campus housing. Make sure your student prepares for this often stressful time. Questions? Contact housing@spu.edu.

Commencement 2012

SPU celebrates the 2011-12 graduates in several ceremonies starting on June 8, 2012, with Graduate Hooding, Ivy Cutting, and Baccalaureate. Commencement is on June 9 at Seattle's Key Arena. All information regarding Commencement can be found on the Commencement event website.
