Position:
Assistant Professor of History: Asia/Pacific Rim, full-time, tenure track, beginning September 2010.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in hand by September 2009. Applicants with primary field in East Asia will receive closest consideration; applicants with primary field in other regions of Asia or Pacific Rim will also be considered. Deep vocational commitment to skillful classroom teaching is paramount; enthusiasm for developing a broad range of courses is essential; experience or interest in directing students in undergraduate research is highly desirable. Additional expertise or teaching experience in any of the following areas of history will be viewed positively: religion, global economics, global environment, Latin America, Modern Europe.
Responsibilities:
Regular nine-month undergraduate teaching load of 33 credits: lower division courses in Asian and/or Pacific Rim history; a general education course in modern global history; and upper division courses in areas of expertise. Additional responsibilities include student advising and committee assignments. Published research required for tenure.
Compensation:
Compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include university contribution to health, dental, vision, disability and life insurance as well as retirement program. A moving allowance is provided.
