Re: Faculty Tea  - November 3, 2009

To be sung to the tune “Ebony and Ivory” by Paul McCartney: “Legacy and lethargy live together in my tired psyche....”

I would like to invite the “senior” faculty to tea on November 3, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. in Upper Gwinn. Who are “senior” faculty? Let’s say those of you who are at least 50 and find yourselves thinking that you are moving into the last phase of this period of your vocation. I suppose we could call ourselves the “embedded ones.”

I do believe that "senior" faculty have so much to offer one another and the “junior” faculty as we think about our contributions in this phase of our careers. As some of you know, I think about the life cycle through the lens of Erik Erikson’s life cycle theory and I would like us to think about what it means to be “generative.” I would like us to share ideas about this and ways we can support one another.

Please join me and one another for a conversation.
