Seattle Pacific University Mission Statement
“Seattle Pacific University seeks to be a premier Christian university fully committed to engaging the culture and changing the world by graduating people of competence and character, becoming people of wisdom, and modeling grace filled community.”

Changing the World:
Seattle Pacific University educates every student to make a real difference in the world. A faithful faculty, supported by a competent staff, teach curricula and produces scholarship, informed by our Christian faith and legacy to give shape and direction to each student’s vocation and to cultivate those skills that enable meaningful contributions to all of life.

Engaging the Culture:
Students, faculty and staff, seek to understand commonalities and differences, serve community needs, identify and promote ideas, perspectives and practices in our culture that are authentically Christian, and respectfully challenges ideas and practices that are contrary to the Christian faith.

  • Graduates of Competence: will articulate discipline specific knowledge and apply essential skills enlivened by the liberal arts.
  • Graduates of Character: will embody personal and professional integrity by serving the public good in doing what is right and doing so with an awareness of consequences.
  • Becoming People of Wisdom: can make decisions in complex and ambiguous situations that result in what is true and good.
  • Modeling Grace-Filled Community: will cultivate a life of friendship and civility through responsible discourse and respect for each other.
