Search these websites to find  a nonprofit organization, or to find out more about specific organizations, charities and foundations

   
 

Please note:  some of the following websites may request that you pay a subscription fee before you can access the most complete information about nonprofit organizations.  The Library does not maintain subscriptions to any of these websites.

   
Charity Guide (lists local and national charitable organizations by state.  Good source for general information)
Foundation Center (includes a foundation finder, funding trends & analysis, statistics, & private foundation tax return search)
Give.org  (website of the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance.       Includes, financial data and an overview of the organization. Search for Charities by name under "Charity Reports")
GuideStar (includes helpful information on more than 850,000 nonprofit organizations in the U.S.; includes financial data on some organizations from IRS Form 990 filings; search by name, subject, state, city, zip code, income range, & EIN; EIN = Employer Identification Number; project of Action Without Borders)
Idealist.org: Action Without Borders (includes about 20,000 organizations in more than 150 countries; search by name, focus area, mission, country, state, city, or browse by country/state)
Internet Nonprofit Center (includes data for & about nonprofit organizations in the U.S.; project of The Evergreen State Society of Seattle, Washington)
National Center for Charitable Statistics (includes data on the relationships between the nonprofit sector, government, the commercial sector, & the broader civil society; Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy at the Urban Institute)
Network for Good: Nonprofit Resources (a nonprofit collaboration to help nonprofit organizations increase capacity, reach new audiences, & build internet strategies)
IRS Charities and Nonprofits (Search for Charitable Organizations, Church and Relgious Organizations, Nonprofits, Private Foundations and more.  Good source for finding the name of an organization) 
Washington Secretary of State - Charities and Trusts
(includes information about charities and charitable trusts in Washington State)
USA.gov for nonprofits (includes information about U.S. Government grants, loans, and other resources for nonprofit organizations)
