Most of you are probably already using Summit Borrowing to order books from the Orbis Cascade Alliance.  But did you know...

...there are other consortial activities we participate in.

Being a member of the Orbis Cascade Alliance has saved us thousands of dollars on the purchase of online databases; the consortium as a whole is able to negotiate reduced prices from vendors for  databases when several libraries participate.

We also belong to other library consortiums that aid in resource sharing such as NAPCU and PSAIL.  When visiting consortial member libraries you may use your SPU library card to check out books.

...as an SPU student or employee you are eligible for local area public library cards.

As an SPU student or employee you are eligible for a Seattle Public Library Card even if you don't live in the city.  With a card you can get into SPL's remote databases. A few examples include:
     Oxford English Dictionary Online
ReferenceUSA - directory with over 12 million business listings in addition to residential listings
LegalTrac - articles from law journals and reviews

Also most people living in Western Washington can get a King County Library Card.   A few examples of online databases subscribed to by KCLS include:
Classical Music Library - streaming media of classical music
Factiva - business including  company reports and historical marketing data
Readers Guide Retrospective - full text of articles written between 1890-1982
