Guidelines for Library Computer Lab Use

1.      Computers are available for use by students, faculty, staff and alumni. Guest passes for other users may be obtained if there are multiple lab computers available. Guests are asked to kindly close their session if the computer lab fills up so that our primary users can access a computer.

2.      Computers are available on a first come, first served basis (computers cannot be reserved.)

3.      Begin printing no later than 15 minutes before the lab closes. The printers are turned off at 10 minutes before closing.

4.      If you need assistance, please ask the Lab Assistant at the Library Computer Lab Help Desk.

5.      Students are encouraged to save documents to a flash drive (available for purchase from the help desk) or to Netstore (25MB of shared server space).

6.      Save often! While it would be nice if we could guarantee that the computers would never crash, we cannot. And as Murphy's Law dictates a computer is more likely to crash when someone has worked on a paper for five hours and never saved.

7.      No loitering allowed in the lab.

8.      No software can be loaded, unloaded, or copied to/from any computer without prior approval.

9.      The SPU Library is not responsible for problems caused by computer viruses, improper use of the equipment, or loss of data due to equipment malfunction or any other reason. Nor are we responsible for any work left unattended on a PC.

10.  The SPU Library is not responsible for any items left in the computer lab.
