John Wesley     (1703 - 1791)

Among the significant events of the 18th century, historians often single out the Industrial revolution, the French Revolution, and John Wesley's Methodist revival.  For Wesley, the awakening of faith followed a powerful religious experience he had as a young man. Over the next 50 years, he gave voice and vision to this spiritual revolution, traveling on horseback to preach the Gospel in England and abroad.

"Vital piety and sound learning have too long been separated."
