Assignments

Accessing Assignments | Submitting Assignments | Reviewing Graded Assignments


Accessing Assignments:


To access an assignment,

  1. Logon to the Online Learning System using your username and password.
  2. Enter the course in which you want to work.
  3. Enter the Content Area in which the assignment is located. Your professor should post an announcement to let you know where the assignment will be.
  4. Locate the assignment and click View/Complete.
  5. After reading the directions, open any links to Assignment files to download detailed assignment instructions.
  6. Save the Assignment files to your computer using the following protocol: lastname_firstname_assignment. Save all subsequent files in the same manner, numbering them for distinction: lastname_firstname_assignment2.


Submitting Assignments:

When you are finished with the assignment and ready to submit it to your instructor,

  1. In your online course, locate the assignment and click View/Complete.
  2. In the Comments section, type any comments you have for your instructor. This is NOT where you type your assignment.
  3. In the Files to Attach section, click the Browse button, locate your completed assignment and click Open. Be sure to attach ALL the required documents. To add more than one file, click the Add Another File button, click Browse, locate the file and click open.
    * Please note that you have the option of saving your documents and returning to them later. To do so, add the documents you have finished and click the Save button to the lower right. You will be able to access them the next time you log back into the Online Learning System.
  4. When you’ve added all of the finished documents for your assignment, click the Submit button to the lower right and click OK to return to the content area.


Reviewing Graded Assignments:

Once your instructor has received, corrected and returned your assignment, you will be able to view it with the instructor’s comments. You have 2 options of viewing your graded assignment: through the Assignment itself or through the Tools Section.

To view your graded assignment through the Assignment:

  1. In your online course, locate the assignment and click View/Complete.
  2. You will receive a message that says “You’ve already completed this assignment, click ok to view your results.” Click OK
  3. You will see, in the Feedback from Instructor section, your grade, any comments your instructor has made to you and your reviewed assignment.
  4. To access the assignment, click on the link. To save it to your computer, right click on the link and choose Save Target As. Choose a location to save your document, and click Save.

To view comments made to your assignment by the instructor,

  1. Follow steps 1 – 3 above.
  2. Right-click on the link to the file you want to view.
  3. Choose Save Target As
  4. Save the file to your computer
  5. Open Microsoft Word
  6. Choose File>Open
  7. Locate the file you saved on your computer and click Open
  8. Depending on the version of Word you are using, the next step may vary slightly. To view comments, choose View>Comments or View>Markup. You may also need to click the icon to open the Reviewing Pane.

To view your graded assignment via the Tools area:

  1. Click Tools
  2. Click My Grades
  3. Click on the grade you received for the assignment
  4. You will see, in the Feedback from Instructor section, your grade, any comments your instructor has made to you and your reviewed assignment.
  5. To access the assignment, click on the link. To save it to your computer, right click on the link and choose Save Target As. Choose a location to save your document, and click Save.
