Accessing Your Online Course
Logging into the SPU Online Learning system is a two step process.
- The first step is to log into the SPU main campus computer system called Banner to look up your Online Learning username and password. (All persons who use the SPU Online Learning system are assigned an SPU email address. The username and password for your SPU email become the username and password for the Online Learning system.)
- The second step is to use that username and password to log into the Online Learning system.
Step 1: Logging into Banner to look up your SPU Email/Online Learning username and password:
- Go to www.spu.edu.
- Click Banner Info System.
- Enter your SPU ID number or social security number.
- Enter your Banner PIN.
Note: If this is your first time using your PIN, it is either your birth date in the form of MMDDYY or the last 6 digits of your SPU ID number. When you log in for the first time, Banner will prompt you to change your PIN to a new number and to create a security question to assist in account access in the event your new PIN is forgotten.
- From Banner’s main menu, click Computer Resources Menu (MARS).
- Click Manage Computer Resources.
- The Manage Computer Resources screen provides details on all of the SPU computer accounts and network resources unique to you.
Scroll down to the section that says Preferred Windows Network Account. You will see listed there your SPU email address (xxxxxx@spu.edu) and a temporary password, something like “woy39nal”.
Your username for Online Learning will be the first part of your SPU email address, without the @spu.edu. Your password for Online Learning will be the 3 letter, 2 number, 3 letter temporary password listed for you in Banner.
Step 2: Once you have looked up your username and password, you will log into SPU Online Learning by doing the following:
- Go to www.spu.edu.
- Click Online Learning (on the right-hand side under SPU Virtual Campus).
- Click the Login button.
- Enter your username, the same username for your SPU email except without @spu.edu.
- Enter the password you located in Banner (3 letters, 2 numbers, 3 letters), and click the Login button.
- After you have logged in, you will see courses in which you are participating listed for you. To view a course, click its link.
Please note: Instructors are responsible for making their course sites available to students. Not all instructors choose to use an online course site. If you do not see a course listed for you, please check first with your instructor to see if he or she plans to use a course site. You are also welcome to contact us with any questions regarding the Online Learning system.
