What is mobile learning?
Mobile Learning or m-learning definitions fall into one of two camps, tech-centric or learner-centric. Traxler (2005, p. 262) PDF defined m-learning as "any educational provision where the sole or dominant technologies are handheld or palmtop devices." This definition clearly focuses on the technology being used rather than the learning that takes place. Learner-centric definitions emphasize the location of the learner –anywhere, and the timing of the learning activity –anytime (O'Malley et al., 2003 PDF)

Using Camtasia Relay to Capture and Share Content Inside and Outside the Classroom - Tuesday, June 14 (Noon – 1:30 PM) Location: Library Instructional Classroom, Main Floor Professors Derek Wood, Chris Henshaw, and Ben McFarland will discuss how to use Camtasia Relay lecture recording coupled with USB microphones to enhance student learning. The session includes information on how to use the technology and a discussion of student and faculty perspectives on the value of this technology in our classrooms. |

Mobile Learning - Wednesday, June 15 (2:00 – 3:30 PM) Location: Library Instructional Classroom, Main Floor Learn more about how mobile learning is being used in higher education, experiment with Blackboard Mobile Learn, and learn how to use cell phones as clickers. Please bring a cell phone if you have one so you can participate in polling that will take place during this workshop. Professor Geri Mason will share about her experiences using PollEverywhere with student cell phones for learning. |

Facilitating Online Real-time Class Sessions with Adobe Connect - Friday, June 17 (Noon – 1:30 PM) Location: ITS Office, Lower Level of Library Learn how to set up a meeting and invite students; use audio, video, and chat tools to communicate in real-time; record and share meetings in Blackboard; share presentations, other documents, and your computer screen; give students control to share their thoughts and content; change and customize views to match instructional method; and clean up and prepare for the next meeting. |
