Toshiko (Senda ) Takeoka
Toshiko Senda was a senior in 1942 at Seattle Pacific College. She was a Christian Education Major, and minored in physiology. Senda was a leader on SPC’s campus as a member of the women’s leadership group, the Falconnettes. She was the group’s secretary for her junior and senior year. Furthermore, she was elected by her peers to be the secretary for the Associate Students of Seattle Pacific College (A.S.S.P.C.). During her freshman and sophomore year, she was a member of the Glee Club and was on the year book, Cascade, staff for three years.
Due to her many accomplishments and her great academic record, Senda was the recipient of numerous honors, such as AKS, Cum Laude, and was on the Dean’s List multiple times.
Unfortunately, due to the war and governmental decree, Senda was forced to leave school in April of 1942, only two months shy of receiving her diploma and graduating with the rest of her classmates. Even though the circumstances forced Senda to leave early, President Watson and the rest of the Professors at Seattle Pacific chose to graduate her. In fact, President Watson talked about her coming back to graduation.
