Miyoko Senda McCoy
Toshiko Senda’s, Miyoko, younger sister was a Sophomore at Seattle Pacific University when the order came for all Japanese Americans to be rounded up and interned. Senda was a nursing major and chose to move in order not to go to camp. As long as she moved out of Military Zone 2, or beyond the Cascades, she would not be required to go to camp. As a result Senda chose to continue with her education and went on to Whitworth University to finish her degree. Miyo and Toshi’s younger sister, Tokiko, would follow in Miyo’s footsteps and attend Whitworth after she was able to leave Minidoka.
