Sharing Your ePortfolio with Others

Creating a secure web address may be useful if you decide to share a portfolio with prospective employers and want to control how long they have access to it.  You also have to option to archive or distribute your portfolio to others on CD.

Create a Secure Web Address

  1. Log into ePortfolio.

  2. Click the ePortfolio2 button to continue.

  3. Under the Actions column, click the Edit button for the portfolio
    you want to share.

  4. Click the Share Page link at the bottom of your portfolio.

  5. Select Share with secure URL, and click OK.

  6. Select Share the whole portfolio, and click OK.

  7. Set the date for how long you want the portfolio to be available,
    and enter a password (if desired).  Click the OK button to continue.

    Note:  If you type something into the Password box, then the person who uses this web address will have to enter the correct password to see your portfolio. They must type the password exactly as you have typed it, including using the same capitalization. If you select a day, month and year for expiry, then the URL will stop working on the day that you select.

  8. A URL (web address) will be immediately generated for you.  To distribute the secure web address, highlight the web address (i.e. left-click and drag your cursor over the address).

  9. Choose Edit>Copy (or on your keyboard, press Ctrl+C).

  10. Paste the address to your portfolio (Edit>Paste or on your keyboard, press Ctrl+V) in an email message.  Be sure to include the password and a note about length of access in the email message.

Burn a Copy of Your Portfolio to CD

  1. Log into ePortfolio.

  2. Click the ePortfolio2 button to continue.

  3. Under the Actions column, click the Download link.

  4. Click the Download Now button.

  5. A File Download window will open.  Click Save. Save the zip file to your computer Desktop.

  6. Once the file has saved to the Desktop, click Close

  7. Place a blank CD in your computer CD-Rom drive. 

  8. Navigate to your computer desktop.  Double-click on the zip file downloaded to your computer.  Click and drag the contents of the downloaded zip file to your CD.  Burn the files onto your CD before removing the CD from your computer CD-Rom drive.

  9. Once your CD has burned, to view your portfolio, double-click on the file burned to your CD called index.html.
