Central Systems Team Manager: Full-time, exempt staff position in Computer and Information Systems. Responsibilities include: Provide high level skill and expertise in the provision of central computer systems and resources; work independently with the highest level of server hardware, operating system and application software, and storage systems support; work closely with campus departments and other CIS staff members to determine needs, analyze those needs, make systems recommendations, and provide design and development support for a wide range of central systems and services; implement and maintain central computer systems hardware and software, including design, programming, security administration, testing, documentation and support; supervise programming and technical staff; manage support, systems configuration, applications analysis and programming, troubleshooting, and short and long range planning; act as liaison between SPU and third party vendors; other duties as assigned. Required qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field (or equivalent experience in core technologies); three to five years of progressively responsible experience with server hardware, operating systems, storage resources, software applications, and systems support; extensive experience with multiple operating system environments and administration; extensive experience with computer networks, firewalls, system security, and network security; extensive experience with server hardware, storage systems, and multi-vendor integration; extensive experience with system management tools, directory services, data backup tools, identify management, performance monitoring, and system troubleshooting; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; strong supervisory skills. Preferred qualifications include: experience with relational database systems (Oracle, SQL Server, My SQL, or similar) and development tools; experience with multiple software development tools and languages. Position will remain open until filled. Salary: $75,000-$85,000/yr.
Gift Receipting and Acknowledgement Supervisor: Manages gift receipting and acknowledgement process and reports on gift income. Ensures audit trail documentation for all gifts which requires technical knowledge of gift valuation and familiarity with the transfer of securities, insurance, real estate and other gifts in kind, and an understanding of charitable remainder trusts, annuities, bequests, as well as tax deduction limits on charitable contributions. Manages donor acknowledgement system by deciding and assigning type of acknowledgement. Maintains immediate turn-around time for acknowledgement. Drafts letters for memorial gifts, gifts in kind, and others as needed. Alerts field staff of unusual gifts which requires familiarity with SPU donor base and individual donor patterns. Assists with Data Management including generation of lists, reports and other data requests, and produces standard periodic gift reports and special reports as needed.
Program Coordinator, Clinical Psychology (CPY): Full-time, 32 hours per week, nonexempt staff position in the School of Psychology, Family and Community. Responsibilities include: Provides support to the CPY Department Chair for overall administrative functioning of the department in such areas as student academic processes, accreditation, dissertation, internship and practicum; assists with and provides clerical support for the program in the areas of advising by maintaining regular contact with current students on progress; communication by ensuring information is gathered and distributed appropriately; recruitment by communicating and interpreting program information; admissions by processing admission applications; special events by coordinating student events; and budgets by preparing requests for payments and reimbursements. Requirements: Associates degree in office processes, related field or equivalent; two years of office and clerical support experience; ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and tasks; attention to detail; strong interpersonal and presentational communication skills; composed presence under pressure. Postion will remain open until filled. Salary: $22,028-$27,535/yr, DOE.
Residence Life Coordinator: Full-time, exempt staff position in the Office of Residence Life. Responsibilities include: Translate SPU's overall philosophy and objectives into a practical and meaningful set of programs, activities and services for students within their living environment; supervise, recruit, educate and advise student staff and residents; provide counseling and referral services to individual students; interpret University housing policies, rules and procedures to staff and residents; coordinate student-related educational, personal, spiritual, recreational and social activities and experiences; direct the student discipline process for residence halls; instruct leadership development courses; and educate students regarding issues of Christian growth, values clarification, lifestyle choices, relationship issues, and other areas of personal growth. Required qualifications include: A master's degree in student development, student personnel services or related field; previous residence-life experience is preferred; a proven understanding of and commitment to student development; and an ability to assume leadership in promoting a multicultural living, educational and work environment. Technical Accountant: Full time, non-exempt staff position in the Finance Office. Responsibilities may include: prepare and review monthly financial statements; prepare various tax and government related reports; prepare Journal Vouchers to record financial transactions and error corrections; ensure that subsidiary ledgers agree to the GL through reconciliation; prepare monthly account reconciliations as required; process and prepare documentation for payment of various employment benefits; assist Controller and Assistant Controller in analysis of financial reports, development of procedures, and special projects; review and process gift information from Development into the GL; provide staff support for the year-end audit; monitor general receivables for timely billings and payments; participate in cross-organizational and functional teams aimed at quality improvement and process evaluation; coordinate with Computer & Information Systems and our Computer Services Manager in computer and database maintenance to insure the integrity of accounting information. Required qualifications include: four year degree including accounting course work; two years of accounting experience; a working knowledge of accounting principles and practices; computer literate (excel/access and mainframe applications). Preferred qualifications include: four years of accounting experience; detailed knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Position will remain open until filled. Salary: $37,000-$40,000/yr.
University Fund Assistant: Provides administrative assistance, program support and coordination for The University Fund and Advancement Services areas of the Office of Development. Supports, coordinates and schedules activities and projects of The University Fund and Advancement Services areas of the Office of Development including the scheduling of meetings and preparation of materials. Responsible for ordering departmental supplies in cooperation with other Office of Development administrative support personnel. Departmental financial activities support: Responsible for accurate processing of all departmental reimbursements, re-classes and RFP’s. Telemarketing leadership and support: Under the oversight of the University Fund Manager provides supervision, direction and leadership to the telemarketing effort including but not limited to recruitment, training, and scheduling of student callers. Responsible for ongoing Development initiatives such as Senior Gifts and Tuition Freedom Day. Assists in the implementation and execution of other University Fund special projects such as reunion and parent giving. Works closely with student body leadership, Alumni representatives and other departmental personnel. Coordinates the printing and mailing of fund-raising letters, pledge reminders and telemarketing postcards for The University Fund. Assists with copy editing, coordinates with University Communications and external printing and mailing service providers, prepares purchase requisitions and request for payments, tracks expense totals for each mailing. Completes and submits matching gift forms, prepares and mails specific thank you letters to companies and individuals making scholarship contributions. Prepares first time donor letters and other letters for alumni, parents, and friends of the University. Prepares draft responses to donor requests for information.
Director of the Asian-American Ministry Program: Assist the Dean in fundraising and development, particularly related to the Asian-American Ministry Program and the School of Theology graduate program. Promote and interpret the Asian-American Ministry Program to outside constituencies. Recruit Asian-American students to the SPU theology programs. Work closely with the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and the Asian-American Faculty Advisory Team to coordinate the logistical aspects of the Asian-American curricular emphasis. Organize short-term continuing education seminars on Asian-American ministry for congregational leaders, in coordination with the Center of Biblical and Theological Education. Encourage formal and informal activities for fellowship among Asian-American students and between Asian-American students and students of other ethnicities, in coordination with the university’s Director of Multi-Ethnic Programs. Develop creative partnerships with Asian-American ministries and Asian institutions.
Associate Dean for School of Theology Graduate Program: One year appointment position beginning July 1, 2010. Administration: Coordinate course scheduling and staffing; coordinate graduate program budget; develop and support a recruitment, admissions and advertising plan in coordination with The Graduate Center and the Graduate Admissions Committee; assist the Dean and the Graduate Curriculum Committee with curriculum development; match graduate students with advisors and university support systems; prepare assessment and accreditation reports. Coordination of Graduate Curriculum and Contextual Education: Recruit and maintain quality contextual education sites and supervisors; oversee the implementation of spiritual formation (“abbey”) and missional/cross-cultural (“apostolate”) applications of the curriculum, including Wesleyan class meetings, mentors, practica, core intensive courses, and cross-cultural immersions. Networking: Recruit students for the graduate program, both regionally and nationally; cultivate interdisciplinary connections with other schools and departments in the university; develop and maintain connections with ecclesiastical judicatories; assist the Dean with fundraising and development; interact with relevant accrediting associations. Instruction: Teach graduate contextual education and practica and, as needed, in the undergraduate University Foundations sequence.
Assistant Director of Systems and Reporting: Working with the Director, the Assistant Director of Systems and Reporting oversees, plans and directs processing, maintenance, and daily operations of a records system; assures security and confidentiality; develops and administers a complex system of data and records; handles data requests and coordinates collection of all types of information; ensures compliance of governmental regulations and University policies, procedures, and guidelines; develops and implements policies and procedures related to records management; develops and distributes special reports and impact studies for University staff; responds to numerous requests for all types of records, information, and data, and assists with record interfaces.
