Administrative Assistant:  Full-time, nonexempt staff position in the Seattle Pacific Foundation.  Responsibilities include:  Provide administrative and clerical support; coordinate all office workflow, including maintaining budgets, supervising student staff, and coordinating appointments and travel arrangements; draft correspondence;  serve as initial point of contact for phone inquiries, drop in visits, and email inquiries; complete special projects as assigned.  Required qualifications include:  Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent; progressively responsible related positions or experience; self starter who manages assigned tasks, takes initiative and follows through; cheerful disposition and likes working with people; strong analytical and problem solving skills; aptitude for financial concepts; proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and other standard office technologies.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $34,000/yr.

Assistant Director for Research and Systems:  Full-time, exempt staff position in Advancement Services.  Full-time, exempt staff position in Advancement Services.  Responsibilities include: development and management of all aspects of donor research and constituent management in the context of its major gifts outreach to donors; develops customized research profiles, engages in proactive research and data mining analysis to determine which constituents require priority attention at each level of the giving pyramid; research requests for grant proposals (RFPs) and grant announcements; assists in defining appropriate segmentation for direct mail and telemarketing appeals; assists in providing performance management reporting for all university fundraising efforts; plans, implements, and evaluates research initiatives for SPU including the use of electronic tools and the management of outside vendors. Required qualifications include:  flexible to changing priorities in a dynamic work setting; ability to work with and protect confidential information; curious, systems-oriented, detail-oriented, task-oriented, self-motivated, and productive with minimal supervision; knowledge of relational database systems. This position reports to the Director of Annual Giving and Advancement Services and works closely with the Annual Giving, Corporate Foundation and Major Gifts, Gift Planning, Parent and Alumni Relations, and External Relations teams as well as with senior management.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  DOE.

Assistant Residence Life Coordinator: Full time, (32 hrs/wk), ten-month, live-in, exempt staff position in the Office of Residence Life, beginning mid August and ending mid June, which co-directs student development and administration of a co-ed living area and reports directly to a senior staff member, and indirectly to the Director of Residence Life. Responsibilities include: recruit, educate and advise student staff and residents; advise and implement on-going leadership training for hall government executive officers; provide counseling and referral services to individual students; interpret University housing policies, rules and procedures; educate students regarding issues of Christian growth, values clarification, lifestyle choices, relationship issues and other area of personal growth.  Required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and two years of related experience, proven understanding of and commitment to student development, and an ability to assume leadership in promoting a multi-cultural living, educational, and work environment.  Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree or admittance in a graduate degree program.  Compensation:  Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Custodian, II: Full-time, non-exempt staff position in Facility Management. Responsibilities include: Provide custodial services for University buildings including, clean and sanitize restrooms; clean chalkboards and erasers, empty wastebaskets and trash containers, refill restroom dispensers, use and maintain tools such as vacuum cleaner, auto scrubber, broom, mop and squeegee, follow instructions regarding use of chemicals and supplies; use ladders; supervise, train and equip part-time student employees; operate high-pressure washers, roto-washers, carpet extractor, buffer and/or other floor care equipment; may move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools; wash interior and easily accessible exterior windows; may lay carpet tiles and/or assist with other events support activities; other duties as assigned. Required qualifications include: Education or training to ensure ability to read and write English; one year of related experience; ability to use high-pressure washers, roto-washers, carpet extractor, buffer, vacuum cleaners broom, mop and squeegee, auto scrubber, service truck as needed to transport equipment. Preferred qualifications include: Custodial experience. Position will remain open until filled. Salary: $27,000/yr.

Gift Planning Officer:  Full-time, exempt staff position in University Advancement.  Responsibilities include:  Maximize philanthropic support for endowment at SPU by building relationships with major and planned giving donors and when time is right, soliciting gifts of $20,000 or more from these individuals; manage a portfolio of 125-150 prospects; develop strategies to build strong relationships; conduct 2-3 face-to-face prospect/donor meetings per week; develop and write gift proposals, prepare endowment agreements and deferred gift illustrations, and compete paperwork;  participate fully in campus, regional and national events and gatherings; complete special projects as assigned.  Required qualifications include:  Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent; five years of progressively responsible related experience; ability to work independently and thrive in a self-directed environment and also develop positive, supportive relationships with members of the development team; strong interpersonal and communications skills and aptitude to work well with diverse constituencies; familiarity with the basic deferred gift techniques including wills, charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities, beneficiary designations in life insurance and retirement plans, and non-cash gifts of securities and real estate; able and willing to travel in the United States; competency with Microsoft Office products, Crescendo and Raiser’s Edge.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  DOE.

Head Athletic Trainer:  Full-time, 10.5-month, exempt staff position in Athletics.  Responsibilities include:  Coordinate the overall medical care for Seattle Pacific University student-athletes;  specifically, manage the care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athletes during their participation in intercollegiate athletics; oversee the athletic training staff, including certified trainers and student workers; develop and implement policies and procedures; manage training budget and procurement of equipment and supplies; coordinate management of medical records; provide emergency medical coverage; consult and coordinate with team physicians; coordinate pre-participation physicals;  provide education and counseling to athletes for physical fitness and training, drugs and drug testing, and medical care and wellness; and engage the University community by building relationships and advocating athletics.  Required qualifications include:  Maturing and contagious Christian faith; knowledge of and active support for the Christian mission of the University; Master’s degree with athletic training; certified by NATA and eligible for Washington State Athletic Training license; 3-5 years of related experience.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $45,000-$50,000/yr.

Mail Clerk—Customer Service:  Full-time, nonexempt staff position in Mailing and Copying Services.  Responsibilities include:  Provide primary customer service at service counter; forward first class mail and packages ; operate package tracking systems; prepare, label and dispatch bulk mailing; provide back-up support on meter machine; other duties as assigned.  Required qualifications include:  High school degree or equivalent experience; one year customer service or mail room experience; willingness to work as part of a team; familiarity with customer service principles; ability to provide discrete and confidential mail handling; professional appearance and communication skills; valid Washington State driver’s license; ability to pass police background check; intermediate computer skills; ability to operate a variety of office machines and equipment including cash register, meter machine, scales.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $27,000-$28,000/yr. 

Mailing Services Processing Lead:  Full-time, nonexempt staff position in the office of Mailing and Copying Services.  Responsibilities include:  Processing and dispatching of the University’s outgoing mail and packages; oversight of package tracking system including related database; providing back-up customer service at service counter; close the SPU mail center, prepare deposit, secure equipment and inventory.  Required qualifications include:  Associate’s degree or equivalent experience; three years of customer service or mail room experience; valid Washington State driver’s license; able to pass a police background check; ability to work independently and prioritize tasks; willingness to work as part of a team; familiar with customer service principles; professional appearance and communication skills; intermediate computer skills; ability to operate a variety of office machines, including cash register, meter machine, scales.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $27,000-$30,000/yr.

Maintenance Operating Engineer:  Full-time, nonexempt staff position in Facility Management.  Responsibilities include:  Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems and equipment; operate and/or log assigned systems and heating plants and respond to customer complaints and emergencies; enforce safety regulations and maintain safety precautions; be on-call on a rotating basis approximately 26 times a year by being available via phone or page during off-hours, including weekends, and being able to respond to campus within two hours; other duties as assigned.  Required qualifications include:  Associate’s degree in HVAC from a vocational technical college or related on-the-job experience; three years operating high/low pressure boilers; Boiler Operators License for the City of Seattle, minimum of Grade 4 with a working knowledge of hot water boilers; working knowledge of air handling system operation; valid WA State driver’s license and ability to drive a service vehicle; ability to load and unload materials, be available to access all areas of the campus at all times, lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and carry, climb and lift different size ladders; familiarity with hand and power tools, working knowledge of DDC and pneumatic controls and keyboards, Microsoft Office products and Barbar Coleman.  Preferred qualifications include:  A working knowledge of refrigeration systems.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $40,000-$43,283/yr

Managing Editor of Response Magazine :  Full-time, exempt staff position in University Communications.  Responsibilities include:  Manage the production of SPU’s award-winning institutional magazine, Response; working with the senior editor, help to propose both content and policy to the Response Editorial Board; oversee the production schedule, writing, editing, photography assignments, proofing, corrections, and printing and mailing arrangements for the magazine; and participate in the creation and implementation of a business plan for the national growth of Response.  Required qualifications include:  Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field; five years of progressively responsible experience as a magazine and/or publications editor; demonstrated professional experience and skill in magazine/feature writing; demonstrated content-editing and copy-editing skills; demonstrated experience in publication production management; demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to create effective partnerships/collaborations within the department and across the University; an affinity for accuracy and detail; an even temperament; effective resource management skills;  proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel; and a commitment to SPU’s vision and the ability to express it creatively through a print and online magazine.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  DOE.

Nurse Practitioner:  Full-time (32 hours per week), exempt staff position in Health Services.  This is a 9-month (mid-September through mid-June) position.  The schedule is 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday-Thursday.  Responsibilities include:  Provide assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and management of general health problems for users of  SPU Health Services within the scope of training and licensing of a nurse practitioner; utilize prescriptive authority to prescribe medications and provide appropriate monitoring; consult with and arrange for diagnostic procedures with consulting physician and/or outside medical facilities when appropriate; maintain accurate, complete and timely entries in patient charts; perform nursing functions such as venipunctures, injections, laboratory tests, etc.; work collaboratively with Student Counseling Center and mutual patient; other duties as assigned.  Required qualifications include:  Bachelor of Science in Nursing and  successful completion of Nurse Practitioner education program as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult Nurse Practitioner; 3 to 5 years as nurse practitioner; WA state licensure as RN, ARNP, national certification, WA state prescriptive authority for legend drugs, and DEA number; familiarity with and ability to use ICD9 and CPT coding.  Preferred qualifications include:  Master of Science in Nursing and successful completion of Nurse Practitioner education program as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult Nurse Practitioner; 5+ years as a nurse practitioner, preferably in college health services.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  DOE.

Operations Coordinator - Center for Professional Education:  Full-time, non-exempt staff position in the School of Education.  Works as part of an integrated team in the Continuing Education department by: coordinating the application process for Second Endorsements and assisting in the Professional Certification Program; providing support for efficient departmental operation; being positive and effective in communications within the unit and with outside callers and visitors; and assisting Professional Development Director and Professional Certification Associates with special projects. Salary: $30K

Office Assistant/Contract Coordinator:  Part-time (8 hrs/wk), nonexempt staff position in the School of Health Sciences (SHS).  Responsibilities include:   Manage, track and initiate SHS education affiliation agreement contracts; basic filing, copying, typing, and data entry duties; other duties as assigned.  Required qualifications include:  Two year degree or equivalent administrative experience; two years experience as an office assistant with word processing and/or other computer applications, including Microsoft Office products Word and Excel; proficient and accurate typing skills; legible handwriting; ability to prioritize and receive direction.  Preferred qualifications include:  Knowledge of contracting process.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $5507/yr. 

Residence Life Coordinator, Male Preferred:  Full-time, 10-month, live in, exempt staff position, beginning annually in mid-August and ending in mid-June.  The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) manages a traditional coed residence hall of approximately 350 students and a student advisor staff and reports to the Director of Residence Life.  The RLC is responsible for translating SPU’s overall philosophy and objectives into a practical and meaningful set of programs, activities and services for students within their living environment.  Responsibilities include:  supervise, recruit, educate and advise student staff and residents; provide counseling and referral services; interpret University housing policies, rules and procedures to staff and residents; coordinate student-related educational, personal, spiritual, recreational and social activities and experiences; direct the student disciple process for residence halls; instruct leadership development courses; and educate students regarding issues of Christian growth, values clarification, lifestyle choices, relationship issues, and other areas of personal growth.  Required qualifications include:  Masters Degree in student development, student personnel services, or related field; a proven understanding of and commitment to student development; an ability to assume leadership in promoting a multicultural living, educational and work environment.  Preferred qualifications include:  Previous residence life experience.  Seattle Pacific University seeks faith-affirming Christian applicants committed to the educational mission of the University and its lifestyle expectations.  Persons of color are encouraged to apply.  Salary:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience, two-bedroom apartment, meal plan, medical, life and disability insurance, tuition discount, and institutional contribution to a retirement plan.  Screening of applications will begin immediately.  The position will remain open until filled. 

Security Officer I: Full-time (32 hours per week), non-exempt staff position in the Office of Safety & Security.  Responsibilities include: Initial response to all emergencies situations, including medical, fire and criminal; investigate incidents and prepare written reports; offer and execute customer service as follows: escorts, let-ins, lock/unlock buildings and rooms, automobile assistance; patrol, observe and protect SPU properties; respond to alarms, emergencies, criminal activity and SPU policy violations.  Required qualifications include: high school diploma or equivalent; six months of security officer experience; must be able to complete upon hire: First Aid, CPR, Fire Brigade, and WACLEA Security Officer training; ability to lift a 30 lb. fire extinguisher and carry up four flights of stairs in 60 seconds; ability to visually observe campus grounds and CCTV; possess a valid WDL and have a good driving record; able to use phones, 2-way radios and audible alarm systems; ability to communicate effectively; ability to work holidays on a rotation basis with other staff members.  Preferred qualifications include: some higher education credits; customer service experience, multilingual skills, and strong clerical ability.  Position will remain open until filled.  Work hours include a swing and graveyard split and may be rotated from time to time as required to meet staffing objectives.  Salary: $22,500-$24,420/yr.

Student Financial Services Representative:  Full time, non-exempt staff position in Student Financial Services.  Responsibilities include: provide accurate information ranging from routine processing of inquiries to explaining complex application, eligibility, and program-specific requirements in a high volume, fast-paced environment, to all undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral prospective and continuing students; process a large volume of cash transactions resulting from the disbursement of federal, state, and institutional financial aid to students, process payments, and authorize refunds; timely and accurate response to inquiries via telephone, in person, mail and email regarding all aspects of a students financial situation ; responsible for understanding and accurately applying all federal, state, and institutional regulations that governs the proper distribution of financial aid; responsible for $400 cash till and accurately processing cash payments up to $300,000 daily; use professional judgment to make decisions on policy exceptions, research situations and communicate options and outcomes to students.  Required qualifications include: a high school diploma; two years of office experience; excellent communication, public relations and counseling skills; understanding and interest in customer service; an aptitude for computerized record keeping systems and analytical ability; team oriented; ability to cope with stress in a positive manner; strong attention to detail; flexibility to handle multiple priorities with poise and professionalism; proficient in MS Office software, mainframe computer systems, and ten-key.  Preferred qualifications include: AA degree or two years of college; previous experience in a college or university; familiarity with federal financial aid.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary: $28,500-$31,000/yr.

Systems Analyst—Admin Systems:  Full-time, exempt staff position in Computer and Information Systems (CIS).  Responsibilities include:  Act as professional liaison representing CIS to the SPU user community; coordinate systems activities and availability of central computer resources with multiple user departments and CIS internal teams; confer with users to determine needs, analyze those needs, make systems recommendations and provide design and development support for computer systems software; provide high level skill and expertise in the maintenance and administration of central server applications, including database systems (Banner/Oracle, SQL*Server) and web servers (IIS and Apache); provide high level skill and expertise in the maintenance and administration of central servers, including Windows, Unix and Linux Servers; implement and maintain central computer systems software, including design, programming, security administration, testing, documentation and support.  Required qualifications include:  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field; extensive experience with relational database management systems (Oracle, MySQL, SQLServer, or similar) and development tools (SQL, PL/SQL or similar); three years experience in systems development, software programming or computer support; experience with computer networking in a multi-vendor environment; experience with multiple operating environments (including Unix, Linux, Windows platforms); experience with Internet tools and web based programming and development tools (ASP, Perl, php); experience with web server applications (IIS, Apache); excellent written and verbal communications skills; strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.  Preferred qualifications include:  Oracle Database Certification.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $55,000-$59,000, DOE.

Undergraduate Admissions Counselor:  Full-time, exempt staff position in Undergraduate Admissions.   Manages 5-6 geographic market regions as assigned by the Assistant Director. Responsible for writing a marketing plan, visiting and recruiting students from designated regions.  Detailed follow-up with both prospective students and SPU audiences in assigned regions.Cultivates prospective students in the assigned travel areas. Travels to assigned areas visiting high schools, community colleges, church and para-church organizations, college fairs, and individual families. Identifies groups of students who will best fit SPU’s mission and admissions requirements. Develop relationships with students and leaders of ethnically diverse backgrounds through culturally responsive conversations and outreach events. Responsible for all aspects of admissions cycle from initial contact to enrollment.  Other activities include regular written and telephone communication with applicants, prospective student interviews, and advocacy for students as they move through the admission and scholarship process.Understand and effectively communicate about university policy, all academic programs, co-curricular activities, athletics, fine and performing arts and other such aspects of university life.Participates in the planning and implementation of campus events as assigned by the Visit and Event Coordinator and the Assistant Director of Admissions. These events include, but are not limited to, Senior Preview, Junior Preview, SPU Fridays, Summer Visit Days, Transfer Events, and may require evening and weekend work.Works closely with other campus departments to implement multi-ethnic student recruiting strategies and build relationships in key high schools and churches.  Play an important role in helping plan and implement a broad range of multicultural recruitment activities. Meets with and interviews prospective students on and off the SPU campus with the purpose of assessing their admissibility and fit for the university as well as communicating the distinctive of Seattle Pacific University. Assists in the general recruiting and counseling efforts of transfer students, including conducting appointments with transfer students and participating in transfer events on and off campus.

 

Temporary Positions:

Administrative Assistant:  Part-time (30 hrs/wk), temporary position in the Career Development Center (CDC).  The period of service begins immediately and may extend to June 30th.  Responsibilities include:  Manage front office functions of the CDC including customer service to students and employers, information dissemination to students, communication and correspondence with external and internal constituents, and supervision of student staff; provide general support to the director and career counselors.  Required qualifications include:  Associate’s degree or equivalent; three years of related experience; strong organizational, interpersonal, customer service, team work, high attention to detail, writing and computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.  Preferred qualifications include:  Bachelor’s degree; related experience in an educational setting.  Position will remain open until filled.  Salary:  $14/hr. 

 

Anticipated Openings:

Stores Manager:  Full time, nonexempt staff position in Building Maintenance.  Responsibilities include:  Coordinate operation of a central stores; maintain inventory levels; supervise four student employees; review stock/inventory reports and use specialized knowledge of goods to estimate needs and order standard and special order items; work with trades in the evaluation of new products and/or new vendors; receive equipment, materials and supplies, verifying against requisition documents; resolve problems regarding service or items received; identify and select vendors to procure commodities; identify tradesmen’s needs and develop and refine highly complex specifications for commodities, supplies, tools and equipment; maintain tools to ensure proper identification, care, storage, and easy access; other duties as assigned.  Required qualifications include:  AA degree; two years of experience in a central store or warehouse or comparable sores operation or equivalent; knowledge of Benchmate. Anticipated opening beginning July 1st.   Salary:  $30,000-$35,000/yr.

Residence Hall Maintenance Technician:  Full time, nonexempt staff position in Building Maintenance. Responsibilities include:  Perform maintenance in the university residence life areas; resolve work requests generated by students including clearing drains, switch and outlet repairs, furniture repair, lighting and fixture repair,  and small plumbing repairs; audit buildings to create and perform preventative maintenance activities; assess buildings for vandalism, repair, and report issues; may assist journey trades worker by performing duties related to carpentry, painting, plastering, plumbing, steam fitting, mechanical or electrical work; may lead or instruct helpers or maintenance workers as required; responsible to be on-call on a rotating basis approximately four times per year, be available via phone or pager, and be able to respond to campus within two hours while on-call.  Preferred qualifications include:  female applicants, six months full time related vocational study, training or applicable work experience.  Required qualifications include: High school diploma or GED equivalent; mechanical aptitude; must possess a valid Washington State drivers license and be able to meet SPU's minimum driving requirements; experience using service trucks, hand tools, power drills and trades-related power equipment; customer service oriented; able to work independently, respond appropriately to variety of personalities and requests, and make field decisions within specific guidelines. Anticipated opening beginning July 1st.. Salary: $30,000/yr.
