Take Control of Your Future: Tips for Successful Aging
Most Americans want to retire in their own home and avoid nursing homes. Yet there is a 40-percent chance older adults will need nursing home care at one time or another — and half of those who require care end up needing the service long-term. Why is this? And can it be avoided?
"Take Control of Your Future: Tips for Successful Aging," a 16-minute community education video produced by Seattle Pacific University nursing students, addresses ways to avoid issues with aging due to inadequate planning. The key is to undergo coordinated planning with an experienced navigator, such as an eldercare counselor, especially regarding the four pillars of planning: housing, health, legal, and financial matters.
With a little planning, it's possible to enjoy a successful retirement. Watch the video — and get ready for this next stage of life.
