RN to BSN Degree Program

The field of health care is changing at a rapid pace. To keep informed and to keep their options open, many registered nurses are completing a bachelor's degree.


Seattle Pacific’s nursing program keeps the working RN in mind. We work with your schedule while providing you with the latest in theory and scholarly understanding. Combined with your experience in clinical practice, the program will stretch your knowledge about nursing, your understanding of service and care, and your horizons.

Admissions Requirements

Admission to the RN to BSN Program is based on the applicant's total profile. The following items need to be included:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma. An earned hospital diploma or an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from a state-approved or nationally accredited nursing program*
  • RN License. Unencumbered Washington State Registered Nurse license
  • RN to BSN Application
  • Requirements. Overall GPA of 2.5 is required for admission to SPU; GPA of 2.75 is required in transferred sciences courses for full admission to the RN to BSN Program
  • Background Check. Upon admission to SPU, a clean national background check by American DataBank is required for all nursing students

* Transcripts from international schools are evaluated by an international transcript evaluator


Depending on your academic history, you may be required to take the English Placement Test.  Check our RN to BSN Program of Study page for information on transfer credits, degree requirements, courses in the baccalaureate nursing major and more.


Admissions Process

Step One. Contact the RN to BSN Program office to request the RN to BSN Application, or download the application from this website.


Step Two. Fax to 206-281-2767, or mail "unofficial" transcripts from all colleges attended since high school for SPU to perform a preliminary transfer credit evaluation (PTR.)


Step Three. Set up an academic-planning meeting with the RN to BSN Program Director by contacting rnbinfo@spu.edu or call 206-281-2027 for the RN to BSN Program Assistant.


Step Four. Apply to Seattle Pacific University.


  • Fill out the RN to BSN Application. The application includes
    • Professional Recommendation forms (Two)
      Personal Statement
  • Submit a $50 application fee
  • Provide official transcripts (sealed) from all schools attended since high school
  • Authorize a background check by American Data Bank at www.spubackgroundchecks.com
