Certificate and Certification Programs

Nurse Practitioners

There are two nurse practitioner certificate options: The Post-Master’s Adult Nurse Practitioner Certificate and the Post-Master’s Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate.

 

Admission Requirements


Education Requirements

Applicants must be in one of the following categories:

  • have completed the Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) degree
    from Seattle Pacific University
  • have completed an equivalent Master’s in Nursing program or higher

 

Practice Requirements


Applicants must have a minimum of two years recent professional nursing practice and a current Washington State Nursing license with no practice restrictions.


Statement of Goals


Applicants must provide a statement of goals in the form of a short essay (no more than two pages), which must include: [see current MSN applicant—there are seven questions that must be addressed]


Letters of Reference Requirements


Using the forms provided, request three letters of reference. Letters should be sent by the writer directly to the School of Health Sciences and include:

  • Two letters from professional nursing colleagues.
  • One letter from a long-standing personal contact who can address your integration of personal values and professional commitments in daily life.

  • Health Promotion (2 credits)
  • Advanced Nursing Assessment 1 & 2 (2 credits each)
  • Values, Faith, and Ethics (3 credits)
  • Legal and Entrepreneurial Issues for Advanced Nurse Practitioners (3 credits)
  • Clinical Advanced Pathophysiology (3 credits)
  • Advanced Pharmacology (3 credits)
  • Advanced Practice Internship (minimum of 12 credits)
  • Evidence-based Therapeutic Management & Diagnostic Reasoning in Primary Care
  • Evidence-based Therapeutic Management of Multi-Health Systems in Primary Care
  • Evidence-based Therapeutic Management of Complex Health Issues


Elective Courses

  • Independent Study (Individually Selected Titles) for N.P.s
  • Women's Health (3 credits)
  • Issues of Older Adults (3 credits)
  • Global Issues of Healthcare (3 credits)
